Bontoc is the capital town of Mountain Province with a total land area approximately 36,160 hectares. It is located in the heart of the Cordillera Range with coordinates 17 - 25 degrees latitude and 120 - 18 degrees longtitudethe municipality is bounded on the north by Sadanga,Mountain Province; on the east by Barlig, Mountain Province; on the south by Banaue, Ifugao; on the west by Sagada, Mountain Province.
It is the center of trade, commerce, and eduction in the province; and also the seat of government in the province. It is composed of 16 barangays, has a total population 23,109. With the rapid developments occuring in the municipality, Bontoc will soon to become a City in the North.
